Literary works on the theme "For national security and peaceful life"

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 20th, the third writing camp within the framework of the novel, short story, and essay writing competition on the theme "For National Security and Peaceful Life," jointly organized by the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Writers Association, officially opened in Cua Lo town, Nghe An province.

Attending the event were Lieutenant General Bui Ba Dinh and Lieutenant General, writer Huu Uoc - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Politics of the People's Public Security; writer Nguyen Quang Thieu, Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association, First Deputy Secretary General of the Afro-Asian Writers Association; Colonel, writer Pham Hong Thai, Director - Editor-in-Chief of the People's Public Security Publishing House, Head of the Standing Committee of the competition's Steering Council. Representing Nghe An province were Major General Nguyen Xuan Lam, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police, and Colonel Dao Hong Lap, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police.

Following the success of the first writing camp in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province in April 2013 and the second in Da Lat City, Lam Dong province, this writing camp will run until April 30th with 35 authors from within and outside the People's Public Security Force participating. According to the plan, the writers will conduct field trips to several police units in Nghe An province, Prison No. 3 and Prison No. 6 of the Ministry of Public Security; and interact with students in Nghe An province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Bui Ba Dinh emphasized: In the work of fighting to protect national security and maintain social order and safety, there have been many exemplary collectives and individuals, including outstanding officers and soldiers, as well as diligent and patriotic citizens whose fighting and daily lives are full of novelistic and romantic elements, contributing to the peace and security of the Fatherland.

To create valuable literary works rooted in real life and elevated to artistic imagery, the Ministry of Public Security leadership has directed and will continue to direct police units and localities to pay attention to and create conditions to accompany writers in immersing themselves in reality for creative work; accessing and researching files, meeting with those involved; and providing materials on exemplary collective and individual role models in the "For National Security" emulation movement and the People's Police movement implementing the major campaign to study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh…

The practical realities of life and combat of the People's Public Security Force provide fertile ground for writers to explore new and lesser-known aspects, fostering creative inspiration. Each literary work written on the theme of "For national security and peaceful life" will be a confidant, sharing the deepest joys and sorrows of each officer and soldier of the People's Public Security Force; contributing positively to the front lines of national security protection and maintaining social order and safety, for the peace and happiness of the people.

In his welcoming remarks at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Xuan Lam, Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police, congratulated the writers on their achievements in the two previous writing camps held in Quang Ninh and Lam Dong. The Ministry of Public Security's selection of Nghe An as the venue for this writing camp provided an opportunity for the writers to learn about the culture and people of Nghe An, the homeland of the beloved President Ho Chi Minh, and the development, combat, and growth of the People's Police force in general, and the Nghe An Police in particular, in the field of protecting national security and order. He also expressed his hope to continue receiving the attention, guidance, and support of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the leaders of the General Political Department, and the writers to help the Nghe An Police successfully fulfill its assigned tasks.

Reportedly, after more than two years of implementation, the competition has initially yielded positive results. The Public Security Publishing House has collected nearly 100 manuscripts, of which 30 have been published. Through literary writing camps, writers both within and outside the Public Security force, with their creative abilities and responsible writing style, will produce works worthy of the historical tradition of dedication and sacrifice of the Public Security force over the past 70 years.
