Creativity and initiative – the path to success.
(Baonghean)Having entered the telecommunications market later than other domestic providers, Viettel Telecom, thanks to its unique and compelling development strategy, has breathed new life into Vietnam's socio-economic life.
Viettel Nghe An branch was officially established on January 1, 2003, formerly the Nghe An Telecommunications Center (POP) under the Military Telecommunications Company. In its early days entering the telecommunications field and "opening the network" in Nghe An, the Center had only 7 employees. "All things are difficult at the beginning," and the Center's business operations faced many difficulties and challenges.
The Provincial People's Committee awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag to Viettel Nghe An Branch.
In the 2000s, VoIP technology, with its advantages in service convenience and low cost, was widely deployed worldwide. With the qualities of a soldier, determination, a willingness to think outside the box, and the ingenuity of the times, Viettel gradually realized its dreams, turning the impossible into the possible. Thanks to Viettel's pioneering efforts, in October 2000, people were able to enjoy this type of service with the 178 number. It can be said that by choosing the right technology, seizing the opportunity, and selecting the right time to launch the service, Viettel made a significant impact on the telecommunications market. In Nghe An province, Viettel deployed long-distance telephone services using VoIP technology with the 178 number in 7 out of 19 districts, cities, and towns.
Simultaneously with the nationwide rollout of mobile services by the Military Telecommunications Company, in early October 2004, Viettel launched its mobile service in Nghe An province with the first 11 BTS stations, including 4 in Vinh City, Cua Lo town, and the districts of Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nam Dan, and Nghi Loc. Within just one year, the center's revenue increased eightfold, from 3.7 billion VND in 2004 to 30 billion VND at the end of 2005. With its integration into the General Corporation's Mobile Phone Center, the Center was able to handle additional services such as fixed-line telephones and internet access.
To meet the demands of production and business in the new situation, on April 18, 2006, the Nghe An Telecommunications Center transformed its operating model into the Nghe An Telecommunications Branch under the Military Telecommunications Corporation, with an organizational structure including a Board of Directors and specialized departments. Since then, through the unity and dedicated efforts of the entire staff, from 2006 to 2011, the Branch has made remarkable progress in terms of investment in technical infrastructure development, staff size, revenue, and service quality.
In 2006, the branch had only 50 employees, developed 56 base stations with 137,000 mobile subscribers, nearly 1,200 ADSL subscribers, and a total revenue of 105 billion VND. By 2007, this had increased to 105 employees, with 161 base stations and revenue reaching 247 billion VND; in 2008, the number of employees was 153, with 363 BTS stations and revenue reaching 524 billion VND. In 2009, the branch had 275 employees, revenue of 737 billion VND, a widespread distribution system throughout the province, the opening of 2 supermarkets and 19 stores, and 400 local staff... From October 2010, the branch continued to establish Viettel District Centers operating under a new organizational model, revenue by the end of 2010 reached 850 billion VND, the entire network had 984 BTS stations, and the number of employees increased to 319 people.
Along with organizational restructuring, based on a common information technology system and database, the Branch has innovated and improved management efficiency through online operation using a core model. Simultaneously, it continues to review, evaluate, and reorganize management staff according to their capabilities and aspirations; and develop and issue regulations appropriate to the actual situation… As a result, in 2011, Viettel achieved revenue of 1,400 billion VND and became the number one mobile service provider, with mobile subscribers accounting for 61% of the market share among the 5 service providers in the province, and revenue accounting for 55% of the province's telecommunications revenue. In 2012, the Branch had nearly 400 employees, developed over 1,500 2G and 3G base stations; and laid over 5,000 km of fiber optic cable. The company has developed over 1.66 million mobile subscribers, D-com 3G, Homephone, etc., with estimated revenue of approximately 1,700 billion VND.
With its technical infrastructure, Viettel Nghe An is not only the telecommunications service provider with the most extensive technical infrastructure, covering 99% of populated areas, but also the network with the best service quality. Viettel is the pioneering "network operator" present in remote, border, and island areas... the most difficult regions of the province to meet the communication needs of the people, serving the information needs for socio-economic development and national security and defense.
Moreover, with its proactive and innovative spirit, Viettel is a pioneer in reducing tariffs and democratizing telecommunications services by continuously researching and developing packages suitable for a wide range of people. Behind each package, from those specifically designed for fishermen (Sea+), ethnic minorities in mountainous areas, to soldiers, teachers, students, and schoolchildren, lies a heartfelt commitment, care, and respect for its customers. To achieve such high-quality service, Viettel's staff and employees, with the qualities of information soldiers, have overcome difficulties in laying thousands of kilometers of cable and investing in the construction of hundreds of BTS stations in remote mountainous and forested areas to bring signals to these areas.
What is admirable about Viettel's employees is that while their business is successful, they do not forget their duty and responsibility to society and the community. To date, in addition to developing a sales system that indirectly creates jobs for nearly 2,000 workers and contributing tens of billions of VND to the budget annually, Viettel Nghe An also actively participates in charitable activities such as donating 40 houses of compassion to policy beneficiary families and poor households... worth over 1 billion VND; donating nearly 500 million VND to the Fund for the Poor and the Agent Orange Victims Fund; donating over 130 million VND to flood and natural disaster victims; providing free internet access to nearly 1,500 schools throughout the province; and giving gifts to poor but studious children at the SOS Children's Village in Vinh and poor children in mountainous and remote districts as a token of appreciation for customer care...
Mr. Nguyen Trong Tinh, Director of Viettel Nghe An Branch, stated: "To achieve the success and solid position we have today, besides our own efforts, the staff of Viettel Nghe An acknowledge and highly appreciate the support and companionship of our customers from the difficult beginnings to the present day. This is coupled with the close guidance of the Nghe An provincial leadership and the favorable conditions created by the Party committees and authorities of the localities where the cables pass through, as well as the locations where Viettel's BTS stations are situated. In response to this trust and support, in the coming time, Viettel Nghe An will continue to invest in technical infrastructure to improve service quality and diversify products to meet the increasingly high demands of customers."
