Going to Vietnam to get dentures, 'conveniently' bringing drugs to sell

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 30, defendant Vu Nenh Khu (born in 1978, residing in Sam To district, Hua Phan province, Lao PDR) was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An province for "illegally buying and selling drugs".

According to the indictment, Vu Nenh Khu is of Mong ethnicity and Lao nationality. At around 11:00 a.m. on April 12, 2017, a man named Tua Va came to meet Vu Nenh Khu at Khu's house and said: "Bring heroin to Vietnam to sell and I will pay you 200 USD." Khu agreed. Tua Va left Khu's house and returned 15 minutes later to give it to Khu.1 heroin cake costs 5000 USD, 2 heroin blocks sell for 5 million Lao kip. Khu took it and put it in a bag of clothes then drove a motorbike through Thong Thu border gate.

At noon on April 12, 2017, Khu went to the forest near Phu Phuong intersection, Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district, wrapped all the heroin in a bag and hid it in the bushes. At about 2:00 p.m. the same day, Khu went to Vi Van Thuyen's house in Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district to get dentures and find someone to buy drugs.

Unable to find a buyer for the drugs, at around 7:00 p.m. on April 18, 2017, Khu went to the place where the drugs were hidden, took 1 heroin brick and put it in his backpack, put 2 heroin bricks in his inside jacket pocket, and then went back to Laos.

At around 10:30 p.m. the same day, when arriving at Dong Moi village, Dong Van commune, Que Phong district, he was arrested by Que Phong district police. According to the investigation results, the total weight of heroin that Vu Nenh Khu brought with him was 499 grams.

In court, Vu Nhenh Khu confessed to all his crimes. The panel sentenced the defendant to 20 years in prison for "illegal drug trafficking".
