Live footage of opening coffin containing 4,000-year-old Egyptian mummy is about to be filmed
An Egyptian mummy in an ancient coffin is to be opened on live television, leading to fears an ancient curse could spread around the world.
According to The Sun, explorer Josh Gates and his colleagues will soon open the lid of a coffin containing an Egyptian mummy from the time of the first Pharaoh, about 4,000 years ago.
The program is expected to last two hours and will be broadcast live on Discovery Channel, USA on April 7.

Josh and his colleagues will travel through a network of tunnels and underground chambers to reach the resting place of 40 mummies, believed to be members of the Egyptian nobility of the time.
“This is one of Discovery’s most extraordinary shows, as we seek to unlock history buried beneath the sands of Egypt for thousands of years,” said Nancy Daniels, president of Discovery Channel.
“I am delighted that Josh Gates is taking us on one of the most ambitious expeditions yet.”

The expedition will also be accompanied by Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt. Viewers will witness the explorer making his way to the sarcophagus in an unknown area.
The identity of the mummy inside the coffin has been a mystery for thousands of years. Josh said he didn't know what he would find when he opened the coffin, but he expected it to be the mummy of a noble person.
“A few years ago, archaeologists discovered this area, opening up a network of tunnels and mummy chambers,” Josh added. “We can learn more about Egyptian history by exploring this place.”
Some conspiracy theorists believe that live-streaming the exploration and opening of the coffin containing the mummy could pose many risks, especially an ancient curse.
The most widely known story is that the expedition to the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamen all died mysteriously one after another.
