Terrible Landslide in Lai Chau: Bodies of 5 Victims Found
According to information from the People's Committee of Vang Ma Chai Commune, Phong Tho District, Lai Chau Province, up to this point (August 5), the search force has found the bodies of 5 victims in the horrific landslide in Nhom 1 village. Currently, the commune still has 6 missing people who have not been found.
This morning (August 5), the road to Vang Ma Chai commune is still isolated due to the large amount of landslides on the main road. It continues to rain heavily.
After the search efforts of officers and soldiers of Vang Ma Chai Border Post and local people, today, the bodies of 5 victims in Nhom 1 village buried in the landslide on August 3 have been found.

Group 1 today is in mourning. Families of the 5 victims are preparing for the funeral of their loved ones.
Mr. Bui Van Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vang Ma Chai Commune - said: "Currently, there are still 6 more people missing in the commune, the rescue team has not found them yet. Because these villages are located on high ground, machinery and vehicles cannot enter, the search is very difficult."

The five deceased victims found included: Ly Lao Ta, Ly Lao Lo, Ly Lao San (all from the same family), Mrs. Phan Lo May and Ly Lao Ta (son of Mr. Ly Y Som).
According to Mr. Huy, border guards and people in the commune are still trying to search for the 6 missing people.
