China's silent killer makes America afraid
China's deadly silent weapon of lasers is causing further tension in US-China relations.
China's laser is capable of destroying aircraft, according to the British newspaper DailyStar. Chinese company Poly Technologies introduced the new technology at a military exhibition in Kazakhstan this week.
This laser is considered a silent killer, able to destroy drones within a distance of 32 meters. However, it can only target slow-moving, low-flying and small-sized targets.
The silent killer laser can also carry out electronic attacks. This type of weapon has the potential to be mounted on mobile vehicles as well as warships.
US military commanders have warned fighter pilots to be extremely cautious about this silent Chinese weapon.
The US Federal Aviation Administration announced that it had detected Chinese lasers at a site in Djibouti, northeast Africa. The US said the Chinese at the base in east Africa had shone military lasers at US pilots landing.
China has denied the allegations, saying the information was "inconsistent with the facts". Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the reports had been carefully verified and the US had been informed that the information was not true.
