Hurricane Matthew – also known as the 'devil' storm – has killed at least 11 people as it swept across the US and left many parts of the Southeast region inundated.

Before Hurricane Matthew made landfall in the US, it had killed nearly 900 people in Haiti. This was the strongest hurricane in the Caribbean region in nearly 10 years.

In response to the storm, the US has ordered the evacuation of nearly 2 million people in the hardest-hit states of Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.
