After the first rains of the season, the Mau Duc - Thach Ngan road is in terrible condition.
(Baonghean.vn) - Construction on the road connecting Mau Duc and Thach Ngan communes in Con Cuong district has resumed after a period of stagnation due to lack of funding. However, before the locals could even celebrate, many sections of the road were severely damaged again after the first rains of the season.

Construction on the Mau Duc - Thach Ngan road began in late 2011 and is expected to be completed in 2013. The design includes a 6-meter wide road, conforming to rural road standards (level 6). The total length is 10.5 km, with a total investment of over 52 billion VND.

However, due to a lack of funding, construction has stalled. After more than 7 years of construction, the road remains unfinished, significantly impacting the daily lives of the people. Raw materials like acacia wood and other agricultural products are virtually impossible to transport out during rainy days. This issue has also become a "hot topic" in many meetings with constituents in the area.

After the Lunar New Year of 2018, construction on the road resumed, bringing joy to the local people. However, after the first rain of the season, the road surface was once again in a terrible state. On sunny days, the section of road through Na Duoi and Ke Trang villages is shrouded in dust.

Nevertheless, for long-time residents along the route, despite the mud and dust, it's still better than before because they can now reach the district center by motorbike; children can go to school by bicycle.
