(Baonghean) - Exchangewith himNguyen Manh Ha - Chief Inspector of Nghe An Department of Science and Technology, candidate for the 14th National Assembly.

PV:In your opinion, what are the current pressing issues in society that receive much attention from voters?

Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha:Currently, people are facing a complicated situation of counterfeit, fake, poor quality goods, and food safety violations, causing harm to legitimate production and business establishments, affecting the rights and psychology of consumers, disrupting the order of a healthy competitive market; causing difficulties for state management of the economy and society in general and the quality of goods in particular.

Personally, I think it is very difficult for consumers to recognize which products are genuine and of guaranteed quality. Therefore, the responsibility lies with the authorities who carry out the duty of protecting consumer rights. Our officials currently have a very bad mentality: when any weak incident occurs, the first thing they do is to assign responsibility to a certain agency or individual. Why don't the authorities, civil servants of the central ministries and branches as well as local branches and branches sit down together and discuss comprehensive measures to solve the problem quickly and effectively? We are calling on people to be "smart" consumers, but our officials are ignoring the path and method to become "smart".

Another thing to note is that product quality is a really difficult field: difficult to investigate, difficult to detect, complicated processing procedures, and frequent complaints and lawsuits. Therefore, the mentality of officials and civil servants is to avoid this part of the job. I think it is better late than never, it is time for us to do everything we can to protect the rights and health of consumers.

PV:Currently, water pollution is also at an alarming level. In your opinion, what is the cause and what consequences do we have to bear?

GrandfatherNguyen Manh Ha:The water environment in many urban areas, industrial zones and craft villages is increasingly polluted by wastewater, exhaust gas and solid waste. In order to maximize profits, some businesses even find ways to discharge waste directly into the environment.

In rural areas, agricultural production activities that use pesticides improperly, fake products... have also seriously polluted groundwater every day. All of this has led to a serious shortage of water for daily life as well as production and business. This is a very alarming situation that needs to be resolutely addressed.

PV:As a science manager and candidate for the 14th National Assembly, what action program will you focus on if elected?

Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha: As the Chief Inspector of the Department of Science and Technology, if I am elected by the voters of my province as a National Assembly delegate this time, I will have more conditions to demand and protect the rights of the people, especially in the field of science and technology. Besides, I also pledge to take responsibility before the supervision of the people and voters for the practicality and effectiveness of the activities I have proposed.

To do that, I will focus on going to the grassroots to learn and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of voters; promptly and fully reflect the thoughts and aspirations of the people to the National Assembly, propose quick and effective solutions; perform the supervisory function of National Assembly deputies over local governments; coordinate with sectors, levels and all people to effectively resolve major issues that receive voters' attention.

PV: Thank you!
