Mr. Jubeir said Riyadh plans to normalize relations with Tel Aviv if a deal is reached between Palestine and Israel.
The top Saudi diplomat also completely denied that the kingdom has any ties with Tel Aviv, despite the fact that both countries have common concerns regarding Iran's growing influence in the region.
Also in the interview, Foreign Minister al-Jubeir said that the administration of US President Donald Trump is serious about reaching a peace agreement between Palestine and Israel.
Last November, the Lebanese daily al-Akhbar published an undated secret letter sent by Saudi Foreign Minister al-Jubeir to King Mohammed bin Salman, mentioning the push to normalize relations with Israel.
The paper reported that Riyadh and Tel Aviv will initially attempt to hammer out a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would largely exclude the interests of a Palestinian state. After that, the Saudi and Israeli governments can focus on their common goal of forming an alliance against Iran.
In a gesture that is believed to open up opportunities for establishing friendly relations between the two countries, on December 13, Israeli Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz unexpectedly asked Saudi Arabia to act as a mediator for the Middle East peace process./.
