Then continue up National Highway 7A to Con Cuong to visit Khe Kem Waterfall, Pu Mat National Park... We plan to go around the province to visit and learn about how people celebrate Independence Day in all regions of Nghe An."

This year's National Day, September 2, falls on a Saturday, so the holiday will last for 3 days (from September 2 to September 4), which is a favorable condition for people to arrange short trips.

Ms. Chu Thi Nguyet in Le Loi Ward (Vinh City) said: “Every year, on September 2nd, my whole family goes back to our hometown. Independence Day in my hometown is very fun, there are team ceremonial competitions, football and volleyball tournaments between the hamlets. I think this is a very good experience for the children.”

Not only people in the province, but also on the occasion of Independence Day, people studying and living far from home, especially in the northern provinces, all want to return home to visit family, relatives and friends because the distance and travel time are not much, so the travel demand of people on this occasion is predicted to increase dramatically.

Ensuring travel needs and traffic safety

In order to promptly meet the travel needs as well as the desire for people to have a safe, economical and meaningful holiday, the Transport sector has proactively planned to ensure means of transport during peak days before, during and after the holiday. Specifically, the Vinh - Hanoi train and vice versa will run 16 trips/12,000 seats/day;

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Lam - Head of Transport Planning Department of Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company said: To meet the travel needs of people, this time the number of vehicles is expected to increase from about 50 to over 200 trips/day depending on the number of passengers.

In addition, during peak days, starting from the afternoon of September 1 to the end of September 5, we will coordinate with the Provincial and City Police and the Transport Inspectorate to inspect and strictly handle violations of regulations in passenger transport (abandoning stations, arbitrarily raising fares to squeeze passengers, carrying more people than allowed...) to serve people's travel conveniently and safely.

In addition to ensuring the means of transport, the work of ensuring traffic safety and order is also being paid great attention by the units. Currently, the Department of Road and Railway Traffic Police has deployed a peak period to ensure traffic safety during the holidays and when students go to school.

Colonel Cao Minh Phuong - Head of the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department - Provincial Police said: To effectively implement the peak period to ensure traffic safety and order during the holidays, the police force in the province has increased patrolling and control, promptly detected and strictly handled violations. In particular, focusing on violations that are the causes of accidents such as: Speeding, violating alcohol concentration, carrying more people than prescribed; stopping, picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations...

In addition to patrolling and controlling work, known to prevent, stop and reduce traffic accidents in the area, the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department also coordinates with functional agencies to inspect, review and supplement the system of traffic signs and lights, especially at intersections, steep roads, and limited visibility;

Arrange forces and means to be on standby to promptly handle incidents, especially on key traffic routes, areas at high risk of congestion, tourist areas, and entertainment areas; strengthen measures to ensure traffic safety at intersections between roads and railways.

“We will mobilize 100% of our staff on duty during the holidays, with the target of reducing 5-10% of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries compared to the same period in 2016; and preventing particularly serious traffic accidents,” Colonel Cao Minh Phuong emphasized.
