Boss exposes billion-dollar scam of female HR manager
Working for a foreign company, Pham Kim Anh took advantage of her superiors' trust to defraud and appropriate more than 5.5 billion VND.
The Hanoi People's Procuracy has just completed the indictment to prosecute Pham Kim Anh (born in 1975, former head of the administrative and personnel department, representative office of SPF Joint Stock Company - Japan in Hanoi) for the crime of fraud and appropriation of property.

In September 2008, the company's representative office in Hanoi signed a labor contract with Kim Anh and assigned her to the position of head of the human resources department.
Kim Anh's duties are to be in charge of office management, bank account management, authorized to make transactions, withdraw money from the company's account to cover office operating expenses.
Because she needed money to spend, Kim Anh lied that the company needed to pay office management fees and absentee management fees (because the office manager was only in Vietnam when working with partners). At the same time, she raised the office rent and asked the company to maintain a minimum balance in the bank account.
Trusting Kim Anh, SPF company transferred the money as requested.
In June 2018, Mr. Katsunori Miyake, Head of SPF's Representative Office in Hanoi, returned to Vietnam and asked Kim Anh to report expenses for the office's operations.
At this time, Mr. Katsunori Miyake discovered that Kim Anh had spent many incorrect amounts and had withdrawn the minimum balance of about 40,000 USD in the company's bank account.
Because Kim Anh did not cooperate, Mr. Katsunori Miyake filed a complaint of fraud and property appropriation to the authorities.
Investigation results show that from February 2011 to June 2018, Kim Anh appropriated more than 5.5 billion VND from SPF company.
The defendant has compensated 1.1 billion VND, and is currently embezzling more than 4.4 billion VND.
