At least four people have died and an estimated 31 million people are affected as super typhoon Goni - the world's strongest storm this year - makes landfall in the Philippines.

Philippine officials said on November 1,Super Typhoon Gonishowed signs of weakening as it made landfall in southern Luzon and swept across Bicol province with wind gusts of up to 290km/h.

The Philippine weather agency warned that the threat of Super Typhoon Goni will continue in the coming hours. It is expected that between 19 and 31 million people could be affected by the super typhoon, including people living in the capital Manila.

According to provincial Governor Al Francis Bichara, at least four people were killed by the storm, including a five-year-old child who was swept away by rising river waters.
