Super Typhoon Yutu made landfall in the Mariana Islands in the western Pacific Ocean on October 25 with winds of 286km/h, becoming the strongest storm to hit the United States since 1950.

The eye of the storm will pass directly over the island of Tinian, while the outer edge will pass over Saipan. With wind speeds at the center of the storm reaching 175 mph (286 km/h), Yutu will become the strongest storm to hit the United States since 1950.

The storm has the potential to cause major damage. The Mariana Islands, home to about 50,000 people, have not been hit by a Category 5 hurricane since 1950.

Yutu’s next path remains uncertain. It could head toward Taiwan or veer off course. The storm could also weaken if it encounters other weather conditions.
