Super Typhoon Meranti weakened as it made landfall in China.

(Baonghean.vn) - SuperstormOn September 15th, the Meranti made landfall in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China, after passing through southern Taiwan..Xinhua News Agency reported that the storm had toppled many trees and caused significant damage to vehicles.

Super Typhoon Meranti also caused dozens of flights and trains to be suspended, right as China began its three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
Xinhua News Agency added that many areas in Xiamen have been without electricity. This is the world's strongest typhoon since the beginning of 2016, and China has evacuated tens of thousands of people and urged fishing vessels to return to port.
Earlier, China's Emergency Operations Center reported that one person died and 38 others were injured in Taiwan after the super typhoon passed through.

Super typhoon Meranti will continue to weaken as it moves inland, only causing heavy rain. The super typhoon is currently moving towards Shanghai, China.
