For the first time this year, the Hong Kong Observatory issued a Level 8 typhoon warning, which lasted until noon on September 6th.

Earlier, in an announcement at 6:20 PM on September 5th, Super Typhoon Yagi was described as an "extremely powerful" storm, with maximum sustained winds near the center reaching 210 km/h. Wind intensity was expected to remain high or even increase.

In response to the storm, activities in the city have been temporarily suspended. Classes and public transport services have also been temporarily halted.

7:51 AM: 708 flights scheduled, 80% operating normally.

The airport authority said that of the 708 flights scheduled for September 5, approximately 80% were expected to operate normally. Earlier on September 5, about 50 out of 916 flights had been cancelled. However, Hong Kong Airport Authority Chief Executive Steven Yiu Siu-chung described current airport operations as "overall normal".

According to the South China Morning Post, while airport authorities stated that 80% of flights on September 6th were expected to depart on time, many passengers expressed concerns about traffic conditions and arrived early, staying overnight. Some passengers even rested in the airport lobby.

At 11:00 AM, Super Typhoon Yagi was located 400 km southwest of Hong Kong. The typhoon is expected to move westward or west-northwestward at a speed of approximately 15 km/h towards Hainan Island.

Over the past few hours, Yagi has continued to move westward and is gradually leaving the city. Wind speeds in Hong Kong are expected to weaken.
