La Kim Phung was born in 1970 in Ho Chi Minh City. The model's first publication was a wall calendar published by Science Publishing House in 1988 by author Duc Huy..

In 1990, she received the Lovely Face award when participating in the model contest organized by the Laborer Newspaper for the first time in Vietnam, marking a major turning point in her life.
