Vinh University students sell sugarcane juice for charity

Here, 15 Vinh University students from two volunteer groups: Confession Love Club and Connection Volunteer Club are organizing a sugarcane juice sale to raise money to support the "White Shirts to School" program for mountainous children in Keng Du commune, Ky Son district.

Every day, starting at 9am and ending at 11pm, students in the 2 clubs take turns working in shifts, each shift has 4-5 people. The work is specifically assigned to each person: scraping sugarcane, pressing sugarcane, marketing, serving... In addition to selling sugarcane juice, the group also sells tamarind juice, sour plum juice... It took the students 3 days to find this sales location, because a person selling sticky rice in the morning gave them the place to "take" without having to pay for the premises.

Through research, it is known that the two clubs have joined together to carry out the charity program “White Shirts to School” with an estimated budget of about 20 million VND to buy sandals, clothes, and books for primary school students in Keng Du commune (Ky Son). To get that amount of money, the participating groups have organized many activities such as collecting scrap metal, selling plums, selling sugarcane juice, etc.

According to students, organizing sugarcane juice sales during the National High School Exam not only serves to quench people's thirst on hot days, but also provides guidance for parents and candidates when they return to the city to take the exam.

Tran Thi Thanh Huyen, a student of the Faculty of Law, said: “We will try our best for the upcoming charity program. The sugarcane juice sale here will last for about 2 weeks, we hope everyone will come to rest and quench their thirst at this special sugarcane juice selling spot.”
