PV: In your opinion, what are the distinctive characteristics of students from Nghe An compared to students nationwide?

Mr. Tran Linh:Nghe An currently has 28,421 students. The Provincial Student Union has 3 affiliated university-level student unions with 16 sub-union branches, 463 sub-branches, and 20,083 members. It can be said that Nghe An is one of the provinces with the largest student population in Vietnam.

In terms of character, students from Nghe An are always proud of their homeland, a place with a long history of formation and development, rich revolutionary traditions, and a spirit of studiousness. Nghe An is also the land that has produced many heroes, outstanding figures, famous generals, and historical personalities for the country. PV: During the past term, what important results have the Youth Union and student movement in Nghe An province achieved?

Mr. Tran Linh:Throughout the past term, the work of the Student Union and the student movement in Nghe An province has always received favorable conditions from the Party committee, government, all levels and sectors, and society to care for, educate, and nurture students for comprehensive development.

In particular, the "Five Good Students" movement, linked to the criteria of "Good Academics," "Good Morality," "Good Physical Fitness," "Good Volunteering," and "Good Integration," has been implemented by all levels of the Youth Union with many new and effective solutions. To date, this movement has become the leading movement among students in Nghe An, truly an ideal environment for students to strive, train, contribute, and grow.

During the past term, the entire province had 224 students awarded the "5 Good Students" title at the provincial level; and 770 students awarded the "5 Good Students" title at the school level. Many new models have been formed and effectively implemented in creating practical value for the movement after the awarding of the title, such as: "5 Good Students" clubs at all levels, the regular organization of "5 Good Students Forums", and "5 Good Students Journeys".

Creative activities and scientific research among students have undergone positive changes, becoming more closely linked to practical applications and real-world needs. During the term, 2,438 student research projects at the faculty level, 452 at the university level, and 20 at the provincial/regional level were completed. This has fostered the creativity of members and students; many ideas, initiatives, and student research projects have been recognized and implemented in practice.

Scholarship programs for disadvantaged students and awards for students with outstanding academic and training achievements are regularly implemented. The Association's branches focus on maintaining and developing scholarship funds, providing over 5 billion VND in support to more than 5,000 students facing difficulties, aiming to encourage and motivate students to strive for academic excellence.

Numerous cultural, artistic, and sporting activities have developed widely, attracting the interest and participation of a large number of students. Through these activities, students have been given the best conditions to develop their abilities in learning, training, and improving their cultural and spiritual lives.

PV: In your opinion, what significant changes will students in Nghe An face in the coming time?

Mr. Tran Linh:Nghe An is aiming to become the center of the North Central region in finance, high-tech industry, trade, tourism, education and training, science and technology, healthcare, culture, and sports. Therefore, it has attracted, is attracting, and will continue to attract a very large number of students.

Given the intertwined impact of favorable and challenging factors, the development trends of Nghe An students in the period 2023-2028 highlight the following issues:

Firstly, the number of students in Nghe An is increasing rapidly, strongly influenced by the process of reform and international integration. Their ability to adapt and adjust to the dynamism and increasingly high demands of the market will also be one of the outstanding characteristics of Nghe An students in the coming years.

Secondly, the trend of entrepreneurship among students is becoming increasingly popular. The need for support in terms of learning conditions, practical experience, living conditions, and participation in cultural activities to enhance students' spiritual well-being is growing rapidly.

Thirdly, the entire political system of Nghe An province is striving to successfully implement Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province until 2030, with a vision to 2045. Therefore, it requires increasingly high-quality human resources, especially in terms of professional skills, foreign language proficiency, work skills, professional work style, and a spirit of innovation and creativity to meet the development requirements of the province.

PV: In light of these changes, what do you think the Student Union and its members need to do to adapt and move forward steadily?

Mr. Tran Linh:The new context and situation require the Student Union at all levels in Nghe An province to implement many synchronized and decisive solutions to guide, lead, and accompany students in emulating moral character, honing talents, volunteering, innovating, integrating, participating in scientific research, and applying technology, contributing to building Nghe An into a prosperous province of the country. The goal is to build a strong Vietnam Student Union in Nghe An province in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization, and action, truly an organization "of students, by students, and for students".

Most importantly, we must do a good job of gathering and uniting students to actively participate in the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. At the same time, we must closely follow the needs of students to organize activities that care for and support them, contributing to the formation of a new generation of students with ethics, a cultured lifestyle, and civilized behavior; possessing knowledge, health, and practical social skills suitable for the demands of the era of science and technology and digital transformation.

In the face of societal changes, students will be a target for hostile forces, who may incite and lure them into activities that undermine the Party and the State, and disrupt social order and security. Therefore, decisive, specific, and scientific actions from all levels of the Student Union are necessary to suppress this problem.

For students – a crucial element in the digital transformation process – it is essential to accumulate knowledge and skills in information technology, proactively update and apply scientific and technological advancements to their work and lives. Furthermore, they need to cultivate foreign language skills, master soft skills, and actively participate in social work.

These are essential tools for students to successfully achieve their goals in university and after graduation, meeting the increasingly high demands of the young workforce. From there, they can move forward into the future, contributing to the realization of the goals for building and developing Nghe An province by 2030, with a vision to 2045, which the province is currently focusing its efforts on.
