SJC also bought counterfeit gold.
On the afternoon of July 22nd, Saigon Jewelry Company Limited (SJC) announced that during the morning trading session at its main store located at the SJC headquarters, the company purchased a counterfeit 1-ounce SJC gold bar.
According to Mr. Cao Viet Hung, Head of the Inspection Team at SJC Company, these counterfeit gold bars are very skillfully stamped, making them very difficult to distinguish from genuine SJC gold; especially since they are packaged in genuine packaging.
According to Mr. Hung, the counterfeiters cut open the back of the SJC gold bar packaging, inserted the fake gold bar, then glued it back together with another layer of adhesive. Therefore, upon closer inspection, the back of the counterfeit gold bar is slightly thicker than the genuine one.
The weight of the counterfeit gold bar is equivalent to real gold, but its quality is slightly lower than SJC's 99.99% pure gold. Currently, SJC has only detected one counterfeit gold bar.
However, the company advises customers to buy and sell gold bars at licensed locations, and to request that the transaction unit issue an invoice or sales receipt clearly stating the serial number of the gold bar to protect the legitimate rights of consumers.
