Microsoft has just announced some important changes related to Skype, the famous cloud service that allows users to send messages and make free calls. Accordingly, Microsoft will only support Skype updates for users using Windows 10 Mobile and iOS 8, Android 4.03 and later. Users who are still using devices running Windows Phone 8 or older versions of Android will not be able to upgrade to new versions of Skype in the future.

This is the result of Skype's "migration" from a P2P (peer-to-peer) service to a cloud service. In fact, the migration has been going on for a while and is now almost complete. This promises to significantly improve the quality of the service in the near future. Windows versions including Windows 10/7/8/XP/Vista continue to be supported by Skype for updates.

In his announcement, Skype's head of development Gurdeep Pall acknowledged that the company's service had encountered some problems over the years. "Unexpected issues occurred, such as messages not syncing between devices, and delayed notifications. Recognizing that the issues affected customers, we worked to fix the issues as soon as possible," Pall said. Microsoft also said that the transition from P2P to the cloud was the cause of the above errors.
