SLNA says goodbye to the best goalkeeper of the National U19 tournament

Duong Van Cuong was born in 1999 in Yen Thanh district. In theSLNA youth team, Duong Van Cuong is in the same generation as Dang Van Lam, Thai Ba Sang, Mai Sy Hoang, Nguyen Van Viet and Tran Ngoc Anh, the faces who have fought for the Nghe An team in this year's season.

In the past, Duong Van Cuong was the number 1 goalkeeper of U15, U17, U19 andU21 SLNAat the finals. The most outstanding personal achievement of the goalkeeper from Yen Thanh is the titleExcellent goalkeeperfirst place at the 2017 National U19 Finals, a tournament where U19 SLNA had to stop right at the group stage.

Thanks to his talent and tireless efforts, Duong Van Cuong was registered by SLNA's coaching staff to play for the home team in the second leg of V.League 2019, replacing Le Van Hung (injured). Unfortunately, Duong Van Cuong did not get to put on his gloves and play a single minute on the field.

Not only that, in this year's season, Duong Van Cuong is not even on the registration list of the Nghe An team. This is understandable, because Duong Van Cuong is not rated as highly as Nguyen Van Hoang, Le Van Hung, Tran Van Tien and Ho Van Tu. Therefore, during the past time, Duong Van Cuong had to "practice alone" to maintain his form.

Duong Van Cuong shared: "I decided to leave SLNA because I realized that the opportunity to play for the first team in the near future is almost non-existent. Currently, SLNA still has 3 excellent goalkeepers: Hoang, Hung and Tien. I am very sad to say goodbye and hope that one day I will be able to return to play for my hometown team."

Due to being busy looking for a new team, Duong Van Cuong will not join U21 SLNA in the 2020 National U21 qualifying round. It is known that the goalkeeper from Yen Thanh is in the "sights" of some First Division teams./.
