SLNA still has to 'take care of itself'
(Baonghean.vn) - It is not difficult to know that the four teams SLNA, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh and Quang Nam proposed to stop the tournament due to concerns about the Covid-19 epidemic, are all at the bottom of the rankings, in the "risk" group. When the proposal was rejected, SLNA had no choice but to fend for themselves.
The proposal to award the championship trophy to the team leading the rankings, Saigon FC, and at the same time, the history of V-League 2020 has no relegation team, instead, there are 2 teams from V-League promoted next season, bringing the total number of teams to 16 in the 2021 season has been rejected. Simply put, in V.League, the 4 teams in the "risk" group are only a few, the remaining teams all understand that if the tournament is stopped, the damage to the Organizing Committee and the clubs themselves is not small.
Can't stop kicking
Not to mention, if next season there are 16 teams playing in V.League, it will be many years before we have the opportunity to eliminate the "inverted pyramid" of tournaments organized by VFF. With the current reality of youth training, if next season V.League has 16 teams participating, the quality of the tournament will be significantly reduced. In addition, in terms of facilities, people have just witnessed the rookie Hong Linh Ha Tinh struggling to have a temporary field that meets the competition conditions.
On the other hand, even if Saigon were awarded the championship trophy as proposed, this would still be the most incomplete championship in the past 2 decades of Vietnamese football. Of course, in the opposite direction, there would be no relegation team and this "spectacular escape" would be recorded in history in a gossipy way. Even the Premier League, but the group at risk of relegation, had proposed the same and UEFA recommended that this option should only be implemented when force majeure is unavoidable.

The Covid-19 pandemic is developing strongly on a global scale, not just spreading unpredictably in Southeast Asia. This playground had to change the competition schedule from June to September to October to November, in which the Vietnam team has 3 final matches to play away in Malaysia, host Indonesia and continue to visit the UAE. If the V.League is stopped, Mr. Park will certainly have difficulty in selecting personnel for the team when the players are not allowed to compete.
In fact, the proposals of the 4 clubs are not unreasonable because stopping the tournament will cause damage to the clubs, in addition, SLNA and some other teams do not have the conditions to increase foreign players because Vietnam is banning entry. But this is not enough to convince the majority to stop playing.
For Vietnamese football
But clearly, football belongs to the public, to society, so the decision of VFF to stop or not will greatly affect public opinion. The Covid-19 epidemic is objective, so it is clear that VFF needs to have many different scenarios to deal with this situation, avoiding the situation of "using Covid-19" to make local calculations. As a common playground, it is clear that the interests of clubs cannot be placed above the reputation and image of a tournament that has been built by many generations.
Up to now, all issues are still open, but 14 V.League teams have received the message "The tournament will only stop in cases of force majeure, or when competent state agencies do not allow it". A decision considered reasonable by VFF at this time and is very much supported by public opinion.
