Snowden once copied his colleagues' passwords.
US investigators concluded that former intelligence employee Edward Snowden amassed the large amount of surveillance archived documents he revealed by copying the password of a colleague who has since resigned.
Previously, Snowden insisted he did not steal passwords from colleagues at a National Security Agency (NSA) facility where he worked on the island of Hawaii.

Snowden then saved the password, thus gaining more access to confidential information on the agency's computer network.
This colleague admitted that a security breach occurred in June 2013, but did not know Snowden intended to reveal the large-scale US surveillance program.
The NSA revoked this colleague's access to classified information, and he resigned last month after the NSA considered firing him.
The NSA memo added that an active-duty member of the military and a private contractor were also restricted from accessing security during the ongoing investigation.
Snowden, 30, is currently in exile in Russia. The US authorities have yet to succeed in their efforts to extradite him to the US to face trial on espionage charges.
