Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade proposed to close and terminate operations at the old market in Tan Ky town.
(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade issued Official Dispatch No. 110 to Tan Ky District People's Committee regarding the termination of operations at the old market in Tan Ky town.
The document clearly states: According to Decision No. 5955/QD - UBND dated December 12, 2013 of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee on approving the Master Plan for the goods distribution network in Nghe An province until 2020 with a view to 2025, Tan Ky town is planned to have 1 class 1 market.
Also according to Decision No. 826/QD - UBND dated March 9, 2018, the Provincial People's Committee approved the investment policy of the Tan Ky General Event Center, Hotel and Commercial Services project. The current status of this land is the old market area managed by Tan Ky town as a market until now. Tan Ky District People's Committee presides over and coordinates with the investor to handle assets on the land and carry out compensation and site clearance in accordance with regulations.
The Department of Industry and Trade requested Tan Ky district to properly implement the direction of the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 826/QD-UBND on approving the investment policy, Notice No. 606 of Comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on handling and resolving difficulties related to the investment project of Hai An Cooperative. The Department of Industry and Trade also affirmed that the responsibility for ending the operation of the old market that does not meet the current conditions belongs to the People's Committee of Tan Ky district.

Previously, in Notice No. 606 dated November 11, 2019, the Provincial People's Committee directed Tan Ky district to proactively coordinate with the investor to organize propaganda and mobilize the local community and small traders doing business in the old market and businesses encroaching on the sidewalk and roadside to do business in the wrong place to hold a new market to hand over the old market to the investor.
It is known that Tan Ky has invested in building a new, spacious market to meet the trading needs of the district. The new market project has attracted a number of people from neighboring districts to contribute capital. Most of the small traders in the old market have registered to do business in the new market and many households have previously done business here.
However, because the Tan Ky People's Committee has not closed the old market, many small traders still stay and do business here, causing the new market to not operate effectively. The households that have entered the new market have returned to the old market. Currently, there are only about 15 households doing business at the new market.
This problem causes insecurity and disorder in the area and slows down the investment progress of the Tan Ky General Event Center, Hotel and Commercial Services project, affecting the province's investment environment and the planning of the market development network in the area.
Talking to us about this issue, Mr. Phan Van Giap - Standing Deputy Secretary of Tan Ky District Party Committee said: We are directing the People's Committee of the district and town to urgently take steps to close the old market of Tan Ky town. We cannot allow the district to have 2 markets, especially the old market that does not ensure operating conditions.

Tan Ky District People's Committee said: Currently, all traders in Tan Ky town have complied well with the district's policy, only a few traders from other communes doing business at the old market have not yet agreed. The market has 65 business households in total, including 14 households in Ky Tan commune, 1 household in Tan Huong, 1 household in Ky Son commune... And in the new market, more than 100 households have come to register for business premises.
