Number of newly established Vietnamese enterprises surpasses record level

The number of newly registered enterprises in the first 11 months of 2017 reached 116,045, surpassing last year's record.

According to the latest report of the General Statistics Office, in November 2017, the whole country had 10,920 newly established enterprises with registered capital of 109.9 trillion VND, down 2.1% in number of enterprises and down 7.8% in registered capital compared to the previous month[.

Average registered capital per enterprise reached 10.1 billion VND, down 5.8%; total number of registered employees in the month of newly established enterprises was nearly 88.6 thousand people, down 1.5%.

In the first 11 months of this year, the whole country had 116,045 newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of 1,131.8 trillion VND, an increase of 14.1% in the number of enterprises and 41.9% in registered capital compared to the same period in 2016; the average registered capital of a newly established enterprise reached 9.8 billion VND, an increase of 24.3%[.

If including 1,582.6 trillion VND of more than 32.2 thousand enterprises changing to increase capital, the total registered capital added to the economy in 11 months of 2017 is 2,714.4 trillion VND.

In addition, 24,349 enterprises returned to operation, down 0.9% year-on-year, bringing the total number of newly registered enterprises and enterprises returning to operation in 11 months to 140.4 thousand enterprises. The total number of registered employees of newly established enterprises in 11 months was 1,065 thousand people, down 8% year-on-year.

By main business line, in the 11 months of 2017, there were 41.6 thousand newly established enterprises in the wholesale and retail sector (accounting for 35.9% of the total number of newly established enterprises), an increase of 15.7% over the same period last year.

14.8 thousand processing and manufacturing enterprises (accounting for 12.8%), up 8.3%; 14.7 thousand construction enterprises (accounting for 12.7%), up 9.1%...

In the first 11 months of this year, the number of newly established enterprises in all regions of the country increased compared to the same period last year. Of which: The Southeast region had 49.2 thousand enterprises, up 13% (registered capital of 579.2 thousand billion VND, up 73%); the Red River Delta had 34.9 thousand enterprises, up 13.2% (registered capital of 271.6 thousand billion VND, down 0.6%)...

The number of enterprises completing dissolution procedures in the first 11 months of 2017 was 10,814, up 3.3% over the same period last year, of which 9,905 enterprises had capital of less than VND10 billion, accounting for 91.6%.

The number of enterprises temporarily suspending operations in 11 months was 55,664, up 3% over the same period last year, including 20,821 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business for a period of time, up 10.2% and 34,843 enterprises temporarily suspending operations without registration or waiting for dissolution, down 0.9%.
