Nghe An Department of Transport gives savings books and seedlings to poor communes

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 25, a delegation from the Nghe An Department of Transport came to give gifts to the government, people and poor students of Keng Du commune (Ky Son).

Implementing the program to help poor commune Keng Du (Ky Son), the working delegation of the Department of Transport (MOT) went to Keng Du commune to present 5 savings books to people in especially difficult circumstances, each book worth 5 million VND; support 20 households with 10kg of lac seeds; give gifts to 30 poor students who have overcome difficulties to study well and give gifts in kind to the People's Committee of Keng Du commune and schools in the commune.

As for Moong Thi Ba, who has especially difficult circumstances in the locality but has good academic achievements, the delegation supported her with 3 million VND.

The total amount of money contributed by the Department of Transport staff to help Keng Du commune on this occasion is more than 80 million VND.

Keng Du is a particularly disadvantaged commune in Nghe An province. More than 90% of the commune's population is of the Kho Mu ethnic group. The area is 75 km away from the center of Ky Son district, so life and transportation face many obstacles. The commune's poverty rate is high, accounting for 87%.

Mr. Nguyen Huu An - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Transport said: In the past 5 years, the Department of Transport has coordinated with the Keng Du commune government to seek solutions to create motivation to promote socio-economic development in this poor commune. Although it is a particularly difficult commune with huge investment needs, the local government has made great efforts to overcome difficulties.
