It will be a type of writing paper connected to a computer, so that what we write on it will be digitized immediately and displayed on the computer screen.

According to Engadget, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a type of paper that integrates such touch technology.

Accordingly, along with many different potential applications, this special type of paper can bring a much cheaper way to digitize writing.

In addition to the usual material, the special paper also has a conductive material on the back. The researchers advocated finding a cheap conductive material so that this type of paper could be mass-produced in large quantities.

After eliminating many materials due to their high cost and poor interaction with paper, the team found two suitable materials: one was a carbon-coated silk film that could be firmly attached to the paper, and the other was a carbon-coated paint that could be brushed or sprayed onto the back of the paper.

Once connected to a computer via a sensor board, the paper with a conductive backing becomes a "platform" that allows users to draw on it with their fingers, pens or styluses, and the finished image will be displayed immediately on the computer screen.

The current cost of a sheet of this special paper is $0.30, but the researchers say that price could be further reduced under mass production conditions.
