Owning the S-400 air defense system, what does Türkiye say to NATO?
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Russia's S-400 air defense system does not threaten NATO security.
"The S-400 missile does not pose any risk to NATO's security. Türkiye is determined to consider the S-400 issue on a factual basis and within the framework of constructive dialogue," the Turkish foreign minister said in an interview with the French newspaper Opinion.

Earlier, on May 31, Mr. Cavusoglu said that Ankara considered it unacceptable for other countries to request not to use the S-400 air defense missile system that it had purchased from Russia.
Russia and Türkiye signed a contract for the purchase of a complete S-400 regiment in 2017. The delivery of air defense complexes to the Turkish side was carried out in the summer and autumn of 2019.
The deal has caused a crisis in Türkiye's relations with the United States. Washington demanded that Turkey switch to buying American Patriot systems, threatening to delay or even cancel the sale of advanced F-35 fighter jets to the country, as well as impose sanctions under CAATSA (Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act).
Ankara has no intention of giving up the S-400. In addition, at the end of April, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced that the Turkish side continues negotiations with Russia on the purchase of a second S-400 regiment.
