The death toll from Typhoon Jangmi in the Philippines has risen.
On December 31, the Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council released a report showing that the death toll from flooding in the southern provinces of the country had risen to 35.

According to the council, Typhoon Jangmi shows no signs of weakening and is approaching Palawan Island in the west with winds of 80 km/h. The bad weather has left more than 17,000 passengers stranded at seaports, delayed 14 flights, and closed 43 roads and 22 bridges in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. Meanwhile, residents in several central provinces are also experiencing power and water outages. On average, the Philippines experiences about 20 typhoons each year.
On December 6th, Super Typhoon Hagupit, with winds of 210 km/hour, swept through central Indonesia, claiming the lives of 21 people.
