(Baonghean.vn) -Following the assignment from the Provincial People's Committee, in November 2012, the Nghe An Department of Health planned to provide assistance to the impoverished Yen Tinh commune in Tuong Duong district for the period 2012-2015, as well as implementing specific and practical support activities. Currently, the Department of Health is mobilizing officials, affiliated units within the sector, and central and local pharmaceutical enterprises to join hands in contributing to the development of Yen Tinh commune.
The impoverished commune of Yen Tinh is located 60 km west of the center of Tuong Duong district.

To provide practical and effective assistance to Yen Tinh commune, the Nghe An Department of Health established a working group to mobilize support for the poor and impoverished communes in the western region. The group is headed by a Deputy Director of the Department and includes several leaders from provincial-level hospitals and centers, functional departments of the Department, and pharmaceutical businesses in the area as members. Activities to assist Yen Tinh commune have been and are being carried out in the following areas: organizing health education and population planning campaigns; providing free health check-ups and medication; supplementing equipment for the health station and equipping medicine cabinets for 9 villages; providing beds and building kitchens and dining halls for boarding students; constructing charitable houses; donating 5 computers to schools, the health station, and the commune People's Committee; and guiding and implementing a pilot economic development model based on the development plan for medicinal plants and livestock. The total estimated cost for the Department of Health's assistance to Yen Tinh commune is 1.5 billion VND, including cash and in-kind donations. The activities were evenly distributed over four years, from 2012 to 2015, with health education and communication activities on population and family planning, as well as free health check-ups and medication distribution, being organized annually.
Over the past two days, February 3rd and 4th, the Department of Health organized a working group to visit Yen Tinh commune to directly sign a memorandum of understanding on providing assistance, visiting, and giving gifts to poor households on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2013. Specifically, 10 gifts worth 1 million VND each were given to 10 poor households, and 5 computer sets and 1 printer were given to the People's Committee, the health station, and 3 schools in Yen Tinh commune... Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Director of the Nghe An Department of Health said: Currently, the Department of Health and the Trade Union of the Health Sector of Nghe An are calling on the generosity and sense of responsibility of officials, public service units of the health sector in the province; central and local pharmaceutical enterprises located in the province and philanthropists inside and outside the country to join hands in helping Yen Tinh commune.
According to Mr. Bui Dinh Long, the Department of Health and the Health Sector Trade Union are calling for donations once a year for the two years 2013-2014: each trade union member should donate at least one day's salary per year; affiliated public service units should support in various forms depending on their capabilities; provincial-level hospitals such as Friendship General Hospital, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Endocrinology and Oncology Hospital should donate at least 7 million VND/hospital/year; other provincial-level hospitals and regional general hospitals should donate at least 5 million VND/hospital/year; district-level hospitals in the plains and midlands should donate at least 3 million VND/hospital/year, district-level hospitals in mountainous areas should donate at least 2 million VND/hospital/year; pharmaceutical and medical enterprises in the province and non-public medical examination and treatment facilities should donate funds, medicines, and medical equipment, with each unit donating at least 5 million VND/year. Other individuals and businesses can contribute according to their ability.
