Shocking: 3-year-old girl was given weed killer by her mother to die together

Doctor Nguyen Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the City Children's Hospital (HCMC), said the child was brought to the hospital in a state of being unable to breathe on his own, the poison had seeped into his blood, causing him to turn purple and his internal organs to be damaged.

"This is one of the most critical cases of herbicide poisoning we have ever received. The patient had to be put on a ventilator, given antidotes, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, electrolytes, and high doses of antibiotics continuously for many days," said Dr. Tien.

By the morning of January 31, the child’s health had shown signs of improvement. However, the patient still had to be hospitalized for monitoring and to wait for the recovery of internal organs damaged by the poison.

Taking care of his child at the hospital, the child's father said: "My wife and I have been living together for 4 years, and recently we often quarrel because I often drink alcohol. Three days ago, we quarreled, I wrote a petition threatening divorce, but I didn't expect my wife to let our daughter drink weed killer and die."

According to the husband, on the day of the incident, he went to work but did not return home at night and instead slept at his parents’ house. When he returned home in the morning, he discovered that the mother and child were lying motionless, foaming at the mouth, and smelling strongly of weed killer. The wife was taken to Cho Ray Hospital but died.
