(Baonghean.vn) – On the occasion of Mai Bang Temple (Nghi Thuy Ward - Cua Lo Town) receiving the National Monument Certificate (October 3, 2016), Cua Lo Starling Club hosted the "Starling Singing" Contest.

| The Cua Lo Town Starling Club currently has 20 members with about 35 cages. The club was established in late 2012 and has participated in many tournaments in Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, and Hoang Mai Town (Nghe An). On March 10, 2016, the club won first prize at the Cua Lo Open Tournament with 9 clubs from inside and outside the province participating, gathering 278 cages. |

Not only for bird singing competitions, the contest is also a place for bird artisans to "show off" their extremely "classy" cages. In the photo, the bird cage is engraved with the "Luc Sat Hoa Giap" symbol of an artisan from Vinh Tan Club (Vinh City) and was made by famous artisan Doan Minh Can (Hue). |

| The competition takes place in 12 knockout rounds, each round lasting 8 minutes. From the top 10 onwards, each round is only 4 minutes long. |

| The referee team is listening, focusing on observing the singing and attitude of each competing bird. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam (a member of the referee team), the judging criteria are based on the time of "opening the beak" (singing), the voice quality and the attitude of each bird such as: Fighting (scare other birds), spreading wings, "che" (scare); Set: (smooth, beautiful feathers, standard form). Birds that make mistakes such as: feather plucking during the competition, somersaulting (jumping around), docking, singing, etc. will be disqualified. |

| At the end of the tournament, 20 birds were awarded the Top 20 prizes. Of these, 4 "singers" were awarded prizes from First to Fourth. |
