The Olympia final was a thrilling match.
(Baongehan.vn) -The final round of the 2013 Road to Olympia competition has concluded with Hoang The Anh, an 11th-grade student specializing in Mathematics at Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students, winning the first prize. Nguyen Van Nam from Yen Thanh, Nghe An, finished in third place.
>>Nguyen Van Nam (Yen Thanh) won third prize in the 2013 Road to Olympia final.
The rice-growing region of Yen Thanh district has never been so joyful. From early morning, the roads leading to the gate of Phan Dang Luu High School were packed with people. Upon hearing the news that Nguyen Van Nam, a young man from their hometown, had reached the finals, many people from the communes of Yen Thanh district and some communes of Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts put aside their farming work to cheer for Nam. Many elementary and middle school students were also brought to Phan Dang Luu High School by their parents to both cheer him on and encourage them to "follow Nam's example."
Outside the school, parking lots were operating at full capacity and charging prices several times higher than usual. Beverage shops around the school were also proactively setting up large television screens to serve viewers. The town police and traffic police of Yen Thanh district had to reinforce their forces to maintain security and order for the final match at the Phan Dang Luu High School viewing point.
The schoolyard was packed with parents and students. Many unique banners and slogans were elaborately prepared by the students to cheer on Nguyen Van Nam.

Interspersed between the competition segments were special musical performances.
To accommodate the demand for watching and cheering on the competition, the school administration installed numerous television screens in different corners of the schoolyard. At these locations, a large number of parents and students attentively followed the developments of the final round. They cheered and erupted with joy when Nguyen Van Nam answered the questions correctly, and expressed regret over the incorrect answers.
Entering the final round, all four contestants were well-prepared and very confident in their knowledge. Therefore, the competition rounds such as the Warm-up, Obstacle Course, Acceleration, and Finish Line were very intense. The contestants chased each other for every point and every question.

Students and parents watched the competition on screens in various corners of the schoolyard.
Despite his best efforts, under the pressure of the competition, Nguyen Van Nam lacked the necessary confidence. After four rounds, Nam scored 75 points, securing a joint third-place finish.
Surpassing three other contestants in the acceleration round, Hoang The Anh, an 11th-grade student specializing in Mathematics at Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students, calmly, confidently, and brilliantly reached the finish line, scoring 285 points to win the laurel wreath of the 2013 Road to Olympia competition.
Despite admitting he wasn't an outstanding student, Nguyen Van Nam, driven by a special passion for the competition, approached the school administration to request the opportunity to participate. Therefore, Nam's motivation for participating in this competition was simply to fulfill a childhood dream. In the weekly, monthly, and quarterly competitions, Nam's "rivals" all came from renowned specialized high schools. With a relaxed mindset and broad knowledge in various fields, Nam successively won convincingly to secure a spot in the annual final, becoming the second person to bring the live televised competition to Nghe An province.

The audience participation segment of the competition took place at Phan Dang Luu High School (Yen Thanh).
The competition ended, and although Nguyen Van Nam, a young man from the rice-growing region, did not achieve the desired position, the students and people of Yen Thanh district present at the Phan Dang Luu High School in Yen Thanh district were still very proud of his achievement. “In every competition, there are winners and losers. Nam's victory over many other outstanding contestants nationwide to reach the final round is a great source of pride for the people of Nghe An. In today's final, all four contestants were winners. Great heights of glory await them in the future,” a resident of Hoa Thanh commune shared.
