"I don't really value individual awards in a team sport like football," acting coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said after receiving the award on February 8. "But the award means Man Utd have been excellent in the past month. My assistants and players all deserve it."
Solskjaer took charge of Man Utd on December 22, going on a 10-game unbeaten run, including eight wins. In January 2019, Solskjaer won his first five games, before drawing 2-2 with Burnley. The highlight was a win over Tottenham at Wembley - helping him break legendary manager Matt Busby's record of six first-game wins.
The 45-year-old faces a stormy February, starting with a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham this weekend. Next week, they host PSG at Old Trafford in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. Then they travel to west London to play Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup. They also host Liverpool on February 24, before ending the month with a trip to Crystal Palace.
The best player of January 2019 category also belongs to Man Utd representative: striker Marcus Rashford. The 21-year-old striker scored three goals in six matches. The last time a "Red Devils" player won this title was Zlatan Ibrahimovic in December 2016.
