After a period of postponement, the two sides agreed to start construction of two border markers No. 30 and No. 275 on November 20, 2015. The completion of the construction of markers No. 30 and No. 275 affirms the correctness of the demarcation work between Vietnam and Cambodia in recent times; at the same time, it demonstrates the determination of the two governments on the basis of signed treaties and agreements, including the 1985 Border Planning Treaty, the Supplementary Treaty to the 1985 Planning Treaty (signed on October 10, 2005) and related bilateral agreements, to cooperate to soon complete the demarcation work of the Vietnam - Cambodia land border, together building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.

Le Thanh – O Za Dao international border gate is located on Vietnam’s National Highway 19, connecting with Cambodia’s National Highway 78, and is one of the key routes connecting the Central Highlands provinces of Vietnam with the northeastern provinces of Cambodia. The completion of the road connecting the two Le Thanh – O Za Dao international border gate control stations will facilitate the smooth flow of this important route; exploiting the economic, tourism potential as well as trade and investment activities between the two countries in particular and the Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia development triangle in general. This event will also facilitate border management, promote exchanges and cooperation in all fields, especially economics, trade, investment and tourism between the two provinces of Gia Lai – Rattanakiri in particular and Vietnam – Cambodia in general.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen reviewed a number of events inaugurating border markers between the two countries; reflecting efforts to find solutions to resolve outstanding issues, moving towards the goal of soon completing the land border demarcation work between the two countries. These achievements also reflect the efforts of the two Prime Ministers, the border demarcation force, relevant ministries, branches and localities of both Vietnam and Cambodia.
