Song Lam Nghe An is close to successfully recruiting coach Van Sy Son.

According to the leader of Song Lam Nghe An Club, if everything goes smoothly, the coach born in 1972 will officially take over the team after round 6 of V.League 2025/26.

In the context of Song Lam Nghe An facing many difficulties at the beginning of the season, this information makes Nghe An fans somewhat more assured. After 6 rounds, the team only has 5 points, with 1 win, 2 draws and 3 losses, temporarily ranking 10th on the rankings. In particular, two consecutive losing matches at home against Hong Linh Ha Tinh and Ho Chi Minh City Police are considered the "last straw" that made coach Phan Nhu Thuat resign.

Coach Van Sy Son is 53 years old this year, having spent almost his entire playing career with Song Lam Nghe An. As a player, he and his hometown team won many major titles such as two V.League championships, one National Cup and three National Super Cups.

In the past, Mr. Van Sy Son worked as an assistant coach at Hanoi FC for many years, during which time the team rose to become a leading force in Vietnamese football. In 2022, he was appointed as head coach of Quang Nam Club and quickly helped the team win the 2023 First Division Championship to gain promotion. In the following season, despite not having a strong squad, Quang Nam still remained in the V.League thanks to their disciplined play and high fighting spirit.

This return to Vinh Stadium as head coach certainly brings him many emotions. After what he showed in Quang Nam, Coach Van Sy Son is expected to bring a new breath of life to his hometown team.
