SsangYong Rexton 2017 is coming to Vietnam to compete with Fortuner

The 4th generation SUV imported from Korea is expected to arrive in Vietnam to attend VIMS 2017 and will be on sale a month after the exhibition.

Rexton 2017 is in the fourth generation, SsangYong positions it to compete directly with Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento in Korea. After arriving in Vietnam, Rexton 2017 will challenge Toyota Fortuner and aim towards Ford Explorer.

The new generation Rexton has been completely changed compared to the previous generation. SsangYong's SUV is inspired by the LIV-2 Concept. The 2017 Rexton has been upgraded with a stronger, sportier and more muscular design. The front and rear bumpers are more aggressive, the grille is larger than the old version, the fog lights and LED daytime lights. The headlights are redesigned, the highest-end version uses 20-inch chrome-plated multi-spoke alloy wheels. The new taillight cluster has an LED brake light strip, connected by a chrome bar. The interior of the Rexton 2017 has been comprehensively upgraded, with a more luxurious dashboard with wood grain details and diamond-stitched leather upholstery. The dashboard integrates a 7-inch screen displaying vehicle information. The center console features an 8-inch touch screen for the infotainment system. Supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning system. Air vents for the rear seats on the 5-seat version and all three rows of seats on the 7-seat version.

Rexton 2017 is equipped with a 2.2 liter e-XDi diesel engine with a capacity of 181 horsepower at 4,000 rpm, maximum torque of 420 Nm at 1,600-2,600 rpm. Mercedes' 7-speed E-Tronic automatic transmission. The 5-seat version has the option of one-wheel or 2-wheel drive, while the 7-seat version only uses the full-time 4-wheel drive system.

Safety features on Rexton 2017 include 9 airbags, electronic balance ESP, anti-slip TCS, downhill assist HDC, hill start assist HSA, lane departure warning, adaptive headlights, rear collision warning, automatic emergency braking, ABS, EBD, BA.

During a visit to the SsangYong factory in Korea by Vietnamese media on September 18, representative of Daehan Motors Vietnam distributor, Mr. Kang Chulmin, said that this unit will bring the Rexton 2017 model to attend the international car exhibition VIMS 2017. The event will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from October 25-29.
