With these weapon racks, the Su-30SM can mount 6 medium-range air-to-air missiles R-27RE, R-27TE or Vympel RVV-AE or short-range missiles R-73. These types of missiles will help the Su-30SM deal with two aerial targets at the same time.

Sputnik news agency said that the Su-30SM's strengths are only inferior to 5th generation fighters in stealth features, but possess some outstanding features even compared to the American F-22.
