Su-34 will change the battlefield situation with new equipment
The Russian Air Force has just received another batch of Su-34 heavy attack aircraft with a new version of the Khibiny electronic warfare system.
Information about the new equipment package for the Russian Air Force was announced by the country's defense source, the batch of Su-34 fighters will be equipped with a new version of the Khibiny electronic warfare system with the code name SAP-518SM.
Along with the Su-34, the new version SAP-518SM will also be equipped on the Su-30SM fighter.

This new upgraded version of Khibiny is designed with many superior features. The development process of the SAP-518SM system has applied many practical combat experiences on the Syrian battlefield."
According to public information, the Khibiny system and the new version are both designed as a pod and have the shape of a torpedo. Khibiny is usually mounted on the wingtips of aircraft to increase the survival rate of fighter aircraft by 25 to 30 times.
Although the capabilities of the SAP-518SM have not been announced, Russia's rush to equip the Air Force with this system as soon as it completed the first tests surprised many people. In particular, in early 2017, Russia publicly announced plans to replace the Khibiny system because it did not bring the desired effectiveness when participating in actual combat in Syria.
This information was quoted by Sputnik as saying that military expert Viktor Murakhovsky said that Russia is developing a new version of the Su-34 attack aircraft equipped with a super modern electronic countermeasures system never known before.
Expert Murakhovsky revealed that the new generation electronic warfare system is capable of effectively protecting other attack aircraft from enemy radars and overcoming all the disadvantages of the original Khibiny system.
According to this expert, the Su-34 is currently equipped with the Khibiny electronic warfare system - a product of the Radio-Electronic Technologies Corporation (KRET). This system is mounted on the wingtips of the aircraft, to help it conduct electronic countermeasures against radars, air defense missile systems or early warning aircraft.
Although Khibiny works quite effectively, the system only protects the aircraft it is equipped with, while it will protect a group of nearby fighters.
Despite revealing this cutting-edge system, Mr. Murakhovsky still kept all information about it secret. During its operation, the Khibiny system became famous in the collision with the destroyer USS Donald Cook in April 2014.
At that time, a Su-24 attack aircraft equipped with the Khibiny system paralyzed the Aegis combat system on the US Navy's most modern warship class.
