Along with its superior power, Russia's Su-57 fighter can also be invisible to enemy radar thanks to special materials.

According to Defense World, Russia's Rostec Corporation has just announced a new composite material that makes the Su-57 fighter truly invisible and the Tu-160 bomber has many features of a stealth aircraft against enemy air defense radars.

"The glass canopy of a fighter jet is the most exposed part due to its poor radar absorption. This new material will significantly reduce the reflected signal from the aircraft to enemy radars," manufacturer Rostec said. In addition to its application for the Su-57 and Tu-160, the new material is also applied to the glass canopy of the Su-30, Su-34, Su-35, and MiG-29K aircraft.

This special composite material has truly superior properties, said Sergei Abramov, Director of Rostec. In addition to increasing the radar wave absorption from 40 to 80%, it also helps to halve the weight and increase the impact resistance of the cockpit canopy.

In addition to its stealthy properties against enemy radars, this material also protects pilots during flight from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, heat radiation and other negative factors. Specifically, this technology helps reduce solar radiation by more than 3 times, and the impact of ultraviolet rays by 4-6 times.

To turn this 5th generation fighter into a true stealth aircraft, in addition to new materials, the Su-57 is also manufactured using carbon fiber-based composites, significantly reducing radar detection range.

Composite materials or synthetic materials made from high-strength plastic are helping new generation Russian aircraft such as the Su-57, Ka-52 attack helicopter, and Ka-62 helicopter make it difficult for the enemy to detect by radar.

The use of carbon-based composite materials instead of duralumin, titanal and many other metals in the construction of the Su-57's fuselage has given it stealth capabilities that are superior to the F-22 Raptor and on par with the US F-35.

Mr. Sergei Abramov added that with 70% of the Su-57's fuselage made of composite materials, the aircraft's front hemisphere's exposure to enemy radar is only about 0.5 square meters. For comparison, the Su-30MKI multirole fighter is made of alloys with an exposure ratio 40 times higher, equivalent to 20 square meters.

With the achieved capabilities, the Russian manufacturer believes that overcoming the prying eyes of enemy radar is not a difficult task for this 5th generation Russian fighter line.
