This is an incident that occurred and the equipment malfunctioned due to the thick material being pumped up. All of this was quickly handled by the construction team, using sand to fill and stabilize the area around the pit that is being handled for rescue," Mr. Doan Tan Buu clarified.
According to Mr. Buu, the rescue team tried to dig up soil in the steel wall pipe to reveal the joint between sections 2 and 3 of the concrete pillar, because they suspected that Hao Nam's body was in that section.
On the afternoon of December 31, 2022, a boy named Thai Ly Hao Nam and three friends went to the Roc Sen bridge construction site in Phu Loi commune, Thanh Binh district to pick up iron. Here, Hao Nam unfortunately fell into a hollow concrete cylinder with a diameter of 25cm, which was driven into the ground about 35m deep.
It has been 19 days since little Hao Nam was trapped inside the concrete cylinder. Rescue teams have been trying to find the best and safest way to bring his body up. However, the incident has delayed the rescue operation, which was originally scheduled for tonight.
Local leaders said that it is expected that today (January 19), the rescue team will complete their mission and bring the child's body back to his family.
