1.Kim Jong-un visits “world-class” teachers' school in North Korea

North Korea's state news agency (KCNA) reported on January 17Leader Kim Jong-un inspected and spoke at one of North Korea's most modern teachers' schools in the capital Pyongyang.

Reuters on January 17 quoted a military source as saying that the Russian-made MI-17 helicopter crashed near the town of Segovia, in Antioquia province, after departing from the town of Caucasia.

There were eight soldiers and two civilians on board the helicopter at the time of the crash. They were on their way to inspect military fuel storage facilities. All 10 people on board were killed.

5. Czech government resigns after confidence vote

According to a survey conducted a week ago by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), Putin will receive 81.1% of the vote and win the first round of the Russian presidential election, while Communist Party candidate Pavel Grudinin will receive 7.6% and Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky will receive 4.2%.

8.Myanmar: Clashes between police and protesters, 7 people died

On January 17, information from Myanmar's Ministry of Information said that clashes between police and protesters in Mrauk U, Rakhine state, western Myanmar, left at least seven people dead and 32 injured.
