The surprising truth about the 'child kidnapping' clip
Regarding the clip “Child Kidnapping” in Da Nang that has been spreading on social networks and Facebook, causing a stir in public opinion for the past two days, on July 17, Da Nang City Police had an official conclusion: The woman “suspected of kidnapping” is actually the child’s mother.
On July 17, according to Colonel Nguyen Duc Dung, Chief of Staff, Da Nang City Police, the City Police urgently verified a 5-minute "clip" of a woman suspected of kidnapping a child in Da Nang City, which was posted by people on Facebook, causing public panic in recent days.
"This is absolutely not a child kidnapping case. Thanh Khe Dong Ward Police have also checked and this "suspected" woman has full documents proving that the child in the clip is her child and not a kidnapping as spread online," Colonel Dung affirmed.

Photo cut from clip: People holding a baby suspected of being "kidnapped" from the hands of a woman who has been identified as the baby's mother... |
Previously, on July 16, on Facebook, a 5-minute clip recorded a scene where some people argued and held a baby from a woman with a non-local accent.
In the clip, the woman in the blue shirt was carrying a baby who was sleeping soundly. Because they suspected that the woman had given the baby sleeping pills and then kidnapped it, many people held the baby back even though the woman repeatedly claimed that it was her child and tried to take the baby back from the people's hands.
Immediately after being posted, the clip attracted hundreds of thousands of views, shares and comments. In particular, public opinion and parents were quite confused because they feared that child kidnapping had occurred in Da Nang.
Many people shared the clip and requested that the incident be urgently reported to the police and even commented to curse this "suspected" woman, also hoping that the police force would quickly intervene to prevent or "rescue" the child...
According to Colonel Nguyen Duc Dung, after checking, this woman had full documents proving that the child in the clip was hers and not kidnapped as spread online.
The fact that people have raised their vigilance against the recent child kidnappings is commendable. However, the fact that they have not yet clarified the facts and accurately reflected the incident, and hastily posted the clip on social networks, will have a negative impact on public psychology and opinion, especially the security and order situation in the locality...
