“According to the report of the district police, there is no such thing as these two women kidnapping children. The police have also taken both of them to the hospital for examination,” Mr. Le Huu Manh, Standing Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Soc Son district, told reporters.
For more information, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of Mai Dinh Commune People's Committee said: "Up to now, 99% confirm that they are not kidnappers."
According to this person, Soc Son District Police have taken the two women to get their injuries examined and sent forces to My Duc Charity Cooperative to determine whether or not they really work there.
“At the time of the incident, 50 packs of toothpicks and a letter of introduction from the cooperative were found in their luggage,” informed Mai Dinh Commune Chairman.
According to Mr. Thang, two women took the bus to the area to sell toothpicks. When they called A. to give her candy (according to the child’s story – PV), a neighbor saw them. While asking about the matter, the neighbor started yelling and chased the two women away.
A while later, she met the child's mother, who told her the story. Believing that the subjects wanted to kidnap her child, the mother shouted for everyone to chase after them.
Two women selling toothpicks were caught up with in the neighboring commune, surrounded and beaten by hundreds of people.
“The matter will be quite complicated if the police determine that the two people are not the ones who kidnapped the children. Because then, the authorities can return to handle the responsibility of those who beat them,” Mr. Thang commented.
