On the afternoon of November 17, a group of four people rode motorbikes to Van Phuoc Pagoda (Chau Pha Commune, Phu My Town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau). The girl stood in front of the pagoda yard to keep watch, while three young men entered the main hall.
The two men carried each other, turned the camera to another direction, then used two aluminum rulers with double-sided tape to take money from the donation box.
Discovering the break-in, the abbot Thich Chuc Minh ran out to lock the temple gate and shouted for help. While climbing the wall to escape, one of the thieves was knocked down and restrained by monk Minh. The girl in the group of thieves was also arrested.
