New momentum in Thanh Thuy border commune
(Baonghean) - Although it is a border commune, far from the district center, with natural and social conditions having difficulties, thanks to clearly defining the direction, combined with determination and determination in action, in the 2015 - 2020 term, Thanh Thuy commune has achieved many results, creating an important foundation for development in the new period.

Looking back on the past, with the results achieved after 5 years of implementing the resolution of the Party Congress of the commune for the 2015 - 2020 term and the policies, resolutions, directives and projects of the Party at all levels, the Party Committee and people of Thanh Thuy are proud of the achievements that they have unanimously contributed to create, bringing a new vitality to the border commune.

Comrade Phan Duy Trinh - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Thuy Commune (Thanh Chuong) shared: In the 2015 - 2020 term, the key and important task that the Party Committee and government focus on is promoting economic development to both increase income and stabilize people's lives.
Regarding agricultural production, in addition to intensive investment in rice and other crops, tea is identified as the main crop of the locality. Therefore, in addition to intensive investment and productivity increase, the locality also encourages people to expand the newly planted tea area by more than 75 hectares; bringing the total existing tea area to more than 530 hectares.
Along with tea trees, in Thanh Thuy, cassava and paper raw materials are also maintained and expanded in area, with a total of 85 hectares of cassava and more than 1,800 hectares of raw material forests (about 150 hectares are newly planted each year). In particular, during the term, the Party Committee and the People of Thanh Thuy have also resolutely implemented the project "Developing some commodity crops, creating raw material areas associated with processing and consumption of products" of the district.

The result has been the formation of fruit growing areas including oranges, grapefruits, Thai jackfruit, guavas, and lychees; of which V2 oranges alone have more than 28 hectares. Along with crops, Thanh Thuy also focuses on implementing projects with the main livestock being buffaloes, cows, pigs, and chickens; contributing to increasing the proportion of livestock in the local agricultural sector to nearly 39%.
Currently, the purely agricultural border commune has also made new developments in industry, handicrafts, trade and services. Typically, some products have had quite good growth such as unburnt brick products reaching 450 thousand bricks/year; processing of dried tea buds reaching nearly 1,500 tons. Thanh Thuy Party Committee and People have also proactively exploited the advantages of Ho Chi Minh Road and the road connecting Ho Chi Minh Road to Uncle Ho's hometown - Nam Dan passing through the area to develop various types of trade and service businesses with a total of 210 participating households.
The commune identified that building a new rural area is the key task of the term, so right from the beginning of the term, the Party Committee of the commune issued a thematic resolution. Accordingly, from the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, and organizations in the political system, they joined in synchronously, strengthened propaganda, mobilized, and explained to create consensus among cadres, party members, and people to join hands in contributing money, donating land, and assets to implement the new rural criteria.

The results of the term have completed 4 more criteria, bringing the total achieved criteria to 15/19 criteria and the remaining criteria have also been enhanced with additional content. The total capital for basic construction investment during the term reached nearly 20 billion VND, of which the people contributed nearly 4 billion VND.
The results of building new rural areas in Thanh Thuy not only change the appearance of the border commune but also affirm the comprehensive development of economy, culture and society, ensure border security, rural security and build the political system.
Currently, the commune has 2/3 schools meeting national standards and the secondary school is striving to meet the standards by the end of 2020. The cultural, physical education and sports movement in Thanh Thuy is very developed. The commune is interested in propaganda combined with ensuring conditions for upgrading cultural houses and stadiums in the commune and villages. Poverty reduction work is taken care of with many solutions, contributing to reducing the rate of poor households in the area from 12.5% (in 2015) to 4.28% (in 2019) and is expected to reduce the rate to 2.2% in 2020...

Efforts for the new term
The factors to ensure the changes after 5 years in Thanh Thuy were emphasized by comrade Nguyen Van Dan - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, first of all, the Party Committee and the government have closely followed the policies, resolutions and projects of the higher levels to issue resolutions, plans and action programs that are accurate and timely; clearly assign responsibilities, give focused and decisive direction; strengthen inspection and supervision of implementation; mobilize the entire political system to participate. In the process of leadership and direction, the Party Committee and the government promote the role and responsibility of the leader, the pioneering and exemplary role of Party members and Party members' families.
Along with that, it is necessary to do a good job of ideological work, raising awareness for cadres, party members, and people, especially awareness of commodity production, market economy, integration; especially the sense of responsibility, consensus in creating local development, meeting the general development requirements of society and the district. Along with that, the Party Committee and the government are always proactive in grasping information, going deep, going close to the grassroots to promptly detect and overcome shortcomings, limitations as well as resolve problems and concerns arising among the people.

Sharing about the orientations for the next 5 years, comrade Phan Duy Trinh - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune said: Entering the new term 2020 - 2025, besides the difficulties and challenges, Thanh Thuy border commune also has new opportunities to proactively take shortcuts and take the lead to create higher development.
It is noteworthy that the Vientiane - Pac Xan - Thanh Thuy - Hanoi expressway will be implemented in the near future, with Thanh Thuy border gate as a transit point and passing through Nghe An for 65 km. Therefore, the strategic thinking and orientation of the Party Committee and Thanh Thuy Commune Party Committee for the next 5 years is to strive to build Thanh Thuy into a center for economic, trade and service development of the district by 2023, creating a foundation to basically become a strongly developed commune in the district by 2025.
Agricultural development takes into account sustainable solutions, increasing the value and efficiency of production by planning specialized production areas associated with restructuring crops and livestock, taking market demand as a guide to minimize the situation of good harvest - low price, good price - bad harvest; promote the application of science and technology, especially in processing and consumption. Along with that, focus on accelerating the speed of building new rural areas, striving to reach the finish line by 2024. Build a strong political system to meet the requirements of local political tasks set out throughout the term.
