UMBRELLAMr. Dinh Van Tien, from Hamlet 10, Nam Nghia Commune, at an age considered "rare," often reflects: "For the organization, I am the leader (currently the Chairman of the Elderly Association of Nam Nghia Commune); for my family and community, I am an elderly person, so I must be exemplary and set a good example in everything I do in my daily life." With this mindset, he always takes the lead in any work in the hamlet and commune, such as contributing to various funds and participating in local social fundraising campaigns. Notably, he was the first in the hamlet to voluntarily donate 120 square meters of land for rural road construction, equivalent to over 30 million VND. Furthermore, he personally went to each household in the hamlet to encourage them to donate land for road expansion. As the Chairman of the Elderly Association of the commune, he has developed a plan for himself and the collective to "follow" the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh, which is to overcome difficulties and successfully complete the tasks assigned to him. They have built and fostered a movement of exemplary elderly people, from being thrifty in their daily lives and living harmoniously with those around them to being leading role models in local movements. As a result, the Elderly Association of Nam Nghia commune has received awards from the Provincial Elderly Association for many consecutive years.

Also among the elderly in My Thien hamlet, Nam Cat commune, following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sam, despite not having a pension, saves 10 million VND each year from the money her children and grandchildren give her to help those in difficult circumstances. Mr. Nguyen Huy Huong - Chairman of the Veterans Association of Nam Dan - has a different way of "following" the example. He saves 10,000 VND each day in a plastic piggy bank and encourages his children and grandchildren to save as well to support the commune's education promotion program...

The youth of Nam Dan district are learning from and following Uncle Ho's teachings with many creative approaches. Among them, the model of "Taking responsibility for the regular care of 100 families of policy beneficiaries and poor children" is an initiative that has been enthusiastically embraced by many young people. This movement has become a regular activity, bringing practical results; it is one of 60 models nationwide commended by the Central Youth Union at the National Conference on Commending Outstanding Models in Implementing the Resolution of the National Youth Union Congress. For many years, the Women's Union of the district has maintained and launched models such as "Savings Rice Jar," "Savings Money Box," and "Shelter of Love" in each branch, accumulating over 830 million VND in savings. From this money, the Women's Union at all levels has helped 490 disadvantaged member families; supported the construction of 11 new houses and the repair of 24 houses; and awarded 48 scholarships. Women's associations at all levels in Nam Dan have also received entrusted capital from the Social Policy Bank to provide loans to disadvantaged women, guided them in business knowledge, and assisted thousands of members with labor to develop their family economies, alleviate poverty, and build warm, happy family lives.
