Chinese laser gun can burn flesh from 800 meters away

China has developed a ZKZM-500 laser gun that shoots a beam invisible to the naked eye that can penetrate window glass and cause burns to people, according toSCMP.

"This weapon is capable of penetrating clothing and burning human flesh in just one second. If the fabric is flammable, the entire target will be engulfed in flames. The pain will be unbearable," said a Chinese scientist involved in the ZKZM-500 gun development project.confirm.

The ZKZM-500 is classified as a non-lethal weapon, with a barrel diameter of 15 mm, weighs about 3 kg (equivalent to an AK-47), has a range of 800 m, and can be mounted on cars, boats, or planes. The gun uses a rechargeable lithium battery, and can fire 1,000 shots per charge.

In the event of a hostage situation, the gun is used to shoot through the window, disabling the target so that other forces can deploy to rescue them. In addition, the ZKZM-500 can also be used in covert military operations, because the energy it emits is enough to burn fuel tanks and fuel containers at military airports.

"The gun's laser beam is tuned to a completely invisible frequency and makes no sound. No one knows where the attacker is. It will look like an accident," said a Chinese researcher.

The prototype of the ZKZM-500 was developed by ZKZM Laser at a cost of $15,000 per gun and is ready for mass production for anti-terrorism forces.

In October 2017, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASIC) also launched a new laser gun model capable of hitting targets at a distance of 200 meters within one second.

Wang Zhimin, a researcher at the Laser Physics and Technology Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said recent technological advances show that scientists can produce increasingly compact yet powerful devices, and laser weapons are no exception.

"This is not a science fiction story but has become a reality of life," Wang declared.
