Collection of torture instruments used by French colonialists against revolutionary soldiers imprisoned in Vinh Prison
This collection is evidence denouncing the brutal crimes of French colonialism and the feudalism of the Southern Dynasty, through which we can see the indomitable and resilient fighting spirit of the communist soldiers at Vinh Prison.
Collection of torture instruments used by French colonialists against revolutionary soldiers imprisoned in Vinh Prison is displayed in room 8, Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum. The collection includes 7 artifacts: 2 cowhide whips, 1 rope whip, 2 handcuffs, 1 baton, 1 leg shackle.

Handcuffs: use handcuffs on prisoners.
Cowhide whip, rope whip, rubber baton: used to hit the body, face, and head of prisoners. The rope whip has a nail attached to the end. Every time the enemy hits the prisoner, when the whip is lifted, the prisoner's flesh sticks to the skin in patches, and blood flows to the floor.
Leg shackles: used in cells where political prisoners with serious crimes are detained, one person per cell, legs are clamped in wooden shackles fixed to the bed board or floor.
Political prisoners in Vinh prison also had to endure many other forms of torture such as: forcing prisoners to go shirtless, being stepped on with spiked shoes, forcing prisoners to sit on red-hot copper trays, or stripping female prisoners' clothes and forcing them to stand on anthills to dry in the sun...

Political prisoners in Vinh prison always know that the path to national liberation is full of thorns, imprisonment, and sacrifice, but they are still ready to accept it with a strong belief in the day of victory of the revolution. Despite being shackled, chained, brutally tortured, tormented by hunger, cold, and disease, communist soldiers in Vinh prison are always optimistic, trusting, united, loving, and helping each other to fight against the harsh prison regime.
This is one of the valuable collections, which is evidence recording the crimes of imperialism and feudalism; at the same time, it helps the younger generation understand more deeply about a period of revolutionary struggle of our ancestors who were brave and resilient in the struggle for independence and freedom for the nation.
